Learning about art can sometimes seem like a gargantuan task. But when you step into the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, prepare to be amazed at the depth and breadth of the work that is displayed here. Learn about art that spans ancient Roman sculpture all the way up to modern graphic design. Some of the many highlights and attractions include the 19th century French galleries that feature the work of Matisse, Rodin and Monet, just to name a few. You'll also be captivated by the beautiful pieces that are part of the Greek and Roman galleries that include sculptures and frescoes. Kids are used to being told to keep their hands off of things. Luckily for them, the opposite is the case when the whole family visits the Providence Children's Museum. A hands-on approach is highly encouraged as the kids are able to create their own artwork using the provided paints and other modes of expression. The exhibits and attractions are hands-on and are highly informative and entertaining, presenting such subjects as a time traveling adventure through Rhode Island's multicultural history, and a wet and wild exploration of the ways of water. This long-awaited community playground attraction has been in the making for some time, and now that it has been unveiled, it symbolizes the importance of working together. Neighbors, community families and the City of Providence Parks Department have all collaborated to create this fun place on the site that was once an old apartment building. Since that structure was demolished, this beacon of unity stands in its place for friends and families to enjoy.
