Brown’s fall semester comes to gradual close

As classes wrap up before Thanksgiving break, many students are packing their bags to head home for the winter. Some have already departed. Others are hunkering down in their dorms and apartments for the reading period and beyond opting to avoid a change in environment, and possible exposure, as COVID-19 cases rise.

The waitlist ranks students hoping to live on campus next semester according to class year and whether they have taken leave. Juniors currently studying remotely have priority, followed by remote sophomores, and then seniors, juniors and sophomores currently on leave.

Twelve members of the Universitys mens and womens squash teams filed a lawsuit against the University in federal court Aug. 17, after the teams were among 11 that were demoted from varsity to club status in May as part of the Excellence in Brown Athletics Initiative.

COVID-19 hospitalizations rising in RI; 16 deaths, 812 new infections reported

With 53 new hospital admissions and 27 discharges, the total number of hospitalizations climbed to 323 the most in Rhode Island since May 5, when there was 337, according to the Health Departments data.
