Every September, the Scottish Games and Highland Gathering takes place to celebrate all things Scottish and Celtic. The unmistakable sound of bagpipes as well as drumming and Highland dancing are a constant feature of the festivities. In addition to being able to sample some traditional cuisine, you'll be able to enjoy a Border Collie demonstration, Scottish fiddling, and children's games, too. Formerly known as the Gloria Theatre, the Sottile Theatre is a first-class performing arts venue located on the campus of the College of Charleston. The theater hosts several events that range from ballets to Broadway musicals, concerts and operas. The Sottile has an impressive history, as it opened its doors back in 1927 and has gained the faithful support of art lovers and theater-goers in Charleston for several years. The 785-seat entertainment venue is a work of art itself, as it features state of the art sound and staging technologies as well as a layout that includes a balcony, dinner at a a piazza and other reception rooms.

Taking the plunge has never been as much fun as it is at Splash Island Waterpark ! This water park has been a favorite of both locals and visitors, as the park features vegetation from the Palmetto County Park to accentuate the surroundings. The attraction features such fun amenities as a recreational pool, a 200-foot water slide and 16-foot otter slide. Also, don't forget to ride the Cyclone, a whirling water ride that's 10 minutes packed with super slippin'-and-slidin' fun!

Drive just a few miles north of Charleston and you'll discover a great beach hideaway at Sullivan's Island Beach. You'll marvel at how inviting and clean the area is, and you'll waste no time kicking off your shoes to stroll hand in hand with your significant other. There are also plenty of historic homes that line the dunes, as well as Sullivan's Island Lighthouse that provide an excellent, unforgettable background for your time outdoors on the beach. If you get hungry, there are plenty of great authentic Lowcountry restaurants close by, so a great meal is not far away at all.
