Every September, the Scottish Games and Highland Gathering takes place to celebrate all things Scottish and Celtic. The unmistakable sound of bagpipes as well as drumming and Highland dancing are a constant feature of the festivities. In addition to being able to sample some traditional cuisine, you'll be able to enjoy a Border Collie demonstration, Scottish fiddling, and children's games, too. When visiting the Citadel Archives and Museum, you'll marvel at this impressive collection of military history that will fascinate everyone from the most detailed history fan to the casual visitor. The rich history of the Military College of South Carolina and Corps of Cadets is presented through this extensive collection of artifacts, memorabilia, documents, and attractions. The items that tell this dramatic story date all the way back to 1842.

Drive just a few miles north of Charleston and you'll discover a great beach hideaway at Sullivan's Island Beach. You'll marvel at how inviting and clean the area is, and you'll waste no time kicking off your shoes to stroll hand in hand with your significant other. There are also plenty of historic homes that line the dunes, as well as Sullivan's Island Lighthouse that provide an excellent, unforgettable background for your time outdoors on the beach. If you get hungry, there are plenty of great authentic Lowcountry restaurants close by, so a great meal is not far away at all.
