Nsekhe to host football camp Saturday at Bowie High School

Giving back to the community is something Ty Nsekhe enjoys doing, and he’ll be doing it again on Saturday. Nsekhe, a graduate of Bowie High School and an offensive lineman for the Washington Redskins, will host his annual football camp Saturday at Bowie High School from 9 3 p.m. The free camp, for kids from fifth  to eighth grades, will have instruction from several NFL players.

Texas Live! slated for August opening

Texas Live!, the World-Class Dining, Entertainment and Hospitality District, opens for business with a four-day celebration of live music, events and activities in early August, the Texas Rangers, The Cordish Companies and the City of Arlington announced Thursday. Since the groundbreaking on March 29, 2017, the $250 Million project has accomplished a lot in a short amount of time. While not everything is finished, organizers are confident it will be by Aug. 9

Rangers Mazara, Choo help install first steel column at new ballpark

Another milestone day in the construction of the $1.1 billion Globe Life Field took place Friday with the installation of the first steel column at the construction site. Texas Rangers outfielders Nomar Mazara and Shin-Soo Choo took part in the event as the steel work at the facility began for what will be the Rangers’ executive offices on the first base side of the new park. With the help of steelworkers, Mazara and Choo took turns helping to bolt the 48-foot-tall, 9,200-pound column in place.

Lamar's Green making progress in recovery after head injury

A 15-year old Lamar High School football player is making a remarkable recovery from an injury that appeared to be life-threatening. Freshman Brett Green was injured in a collision with another player at last weekend’s 7-on-7 football tournament at Lamar High School. After being knocked out cold in the collision, Green was rushed to the intensive care unit at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth and put on a respirator, while paralyzed with a brain injury.

State football championship games to remain at AT&T Stadium

The University Interscholastic League announced this week that its 12 State football championship games will again be played at AT&T Stadium in 2018 and 2019. This year's games will be played from Dec. 19-22, 2018.
