Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts presents more than 50 free outdoor concerts a year in Downtown Arlington across from City Hall with a broad-based performance calendar of professional music artists including international, jazz, home-grown Texas Country and trail-blazing Indie artists. The Levitt spotlights and gives prominence to original artists many of whom have become Grammy Award winners.  Over 100,000 make their way to the Levitt Pavilion each year and in addition to enjoying the freshest sounds, the real focus is about building community as families, school groups, neighborhoods and people from all parts of the area to join side-by-side in a safe, fun, casual atmosphere to enjoy live music together. Arlington's Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration takes place every January. There are plenty of activities planned at this festival, as well as live music, artwork from area students, and invited speakers that all pay homage to the life and mission of Dr. King. There is also an essay and artwork contest held in conjunction with the festivities.
