Experience what is perhaps the most curious, peculiar, yet extraordinarily fantastic festive moment ever imagined, Día de los Muertos, also known as the Day of the Dead Street Festival, celebrating the lives we knew and miss and yet joyfully inviting all to pay respects to those who passed on and celebrate the life that makes and solidifies our cherished memories. You’ll find Día de Los Muertos themed artworks, Wall and Altars of Remembrance, craft items, jewelry, fun children’s activities, challenging games, and plenty of food as the festival takes over several blocks of Downtown. This rich Mexican tradition has multiple stages of live entertainment, traditional Mexican cultural performances, and local bands.

South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center showcases colorful and unusual plants, including cacti, hibiscus, roses, plumeria, and orchids. Explore the Arid Garden, Water Garden, Sensory Garden, Butterfly Garden, Hummingbird Garden, and the shaded Bird & Butterfly Trail. Take the opportunity to mingle with fluttering butterflies, who will often stop and rest on an available arm or shoulder. Be adventurous and hike the nature trail through 30 acres of native brush to see native plants, deer, javelina, and coyotes.

Did you know that The Ritz Theatre is one of the last historic buildings remaining in Corpus Christi? It was built in 1929 and was the first talking movie theater in the area. The Ritz was one of the finest theaters in Texas and is now best known as The Ritz Music Hall, which housed a great range of artists from Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, and Stevie Ray Vaughn to Metallica and Def Leppard in the 70s. Recently, PATCH, the non-profit organization behind the restoration of The Ritz, has launched a dynamic new action plan. They have published a manifesto about Corpus Christi, a "State of The Ritz" document, and a call to the community for help.
