As the oldest performing arts organization in El Paso and the longest continuously-running symphony orchestra in Texas, the EPSO has garnered national and international recognition for its exceptional offerings. El Paso has a must-visit spot on its list: the International Museum of Art, located in the city's historic Rio Grande District. The Museum is in a Victorian-style mansion designed and completed in the early 1900s. Its humble beginnings can be traced back to 1925 when the first display cases showcased a collection of books, pottery, tapestries, and other unique items. Over time, the International Museum became a center for women's contributions to the war effort. It also began displaying more eclectic items such as mineral samples, clothing, and pottery. Eventually, the Museum became home to the priceless Kress Collection of Fine Art. Today, the International Association for the Visual Arts operates the International Museum, which houses collections worldwide.
