Explore the otherworldly history at the Concordia Cemetery. This historic graveyard dates to 1856 and is the final resting place for gunfighter John Wesley Hardin, Buffalo Soldiers, Texas Rangers, Civil War Veterans, early Mormon pioneers, and other civic leaders. Ghost tours and history reenactments are scheduled regularly here.
Keystone Heritage Park is an archeological site, an archaic wetlands and a botanical garden making it the perfect spot for birdwatchers. It is home to many species of birds and is a stop on a migratory route with over 193 species of birds have been spotted here, including 22 species considered rare by the Audubon Society.
Los Portales is a historic building home to the Old County Jail Museum, which showcases San Elizario's rich and colorful history. You can step back and marvel at the area's 400 years of significant historical events, including the "First Thanksgiving," the Spanish Presidio, the San Elizario Salt War of 1877, and El Paso's first county seat. As a visitor information center, we welcome your questions about the area. The Museum, located in a Territorial-Style building from the 1850s in El Paso's Mission Valley, offers free admission. Its exhibits focus on San Elizario's fascinating history.
