It's all happening at the El Paso Zoo, a thriving center for education and fun, where visitors can view more than 250 species of animals, learn about their natural habitats, and discover how to preserve endangered species for future generations. The 35-acre zoo boasts a variety of natural habitats to explore. Exhibits include a Reptile House, South American Pavilion, Americas Aviary, Cisneros Paraje, Birds of Prey, Forest Atrium, Asian Grasslands and an Elephant Complex. In all, there are 500 mammals, reptiles and birds, 100 fish and 250 invertebrates. Other fun activities include a carousel, food court and gift shop.
The majestic mountains surrounding El Paso have earned a six-week festival, known as "Celebration of our Mountains." Events usually begin in October and include bird watching, nature hikes and drives, mountain biking and bat watches. There's even a "Coffee, hot chocolate, muffins, and the tramway" event.
Imagine the courage and foresight it took in 1906 when the frontier still existed and you will witness the daring and gallant vision used to establish the El Paso Country Club opened originally as a nine-hole course on fairways which today would be considered "rough" and the greens made of packed sand. The Club was moved to its current location in El Paso's lush Upper Valley where your tee time awaits. Over the next 100 years the El Paso Country Club would grow to include tennis, swimming and fine dining for its members to enjoy and developed its reputation as one of the finest country clubs in the Southwest with a championship golf course. Whether you are a devoted golfer, tennis player or just enjoy dining out, they believe El Paso Country Club has something for you and everyone in your family.
Your passion and appetite for the theater will be more than satiated at the Abraham Chavez Theatre located adjacent to the El Paso Convention Center which has consistently welcomed patrons with a three-story high glass windowed entry and unique sombrero-shaped architecture making it a distinct feature on El Paso’s southwestern landscape. The spacious seating is well-appointed, comfortable, generous and relaxing for an indulgent experience replete with beaming lights, arched staircases, creative entryways and luminescent chandeliers adding to its rich decor. The lobby offers 20 entrance doors at the front of the building, with more than 5,000 square feet of lobby area full of glamour, sophistication and style.
