Children will love learning about the Rio Grande ecosystem at the Lamar Bruni Vergara Environmental Science Center. Located on the campus of Laredo Community College, this environmental science center contains live specimens of local flora and fauna in a living laboratory. It's a great outdoor educational center for any family vacation.

Since 1939, Vega's Interiores Mejicanos has been supplying the best art, home decor, furniture, jewelry and clothing for their clients. This family-owned and operated store imports items from Mexico, South America and Europe, and sells custom-made furniture. Even former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt found a few favorite items at this store.

Enjoy a performance by Laredo's oldest theater troupe, the Laredo Little Theatre. Since 1911, this theater has existed to preserve, develop and promote the arts and culture in Laredo through entertaining theater arts, dance and music. Presenting performances in both English and Spanish, the Laredo Little Theatre focuses on individual creative expression and community collaboration as tools for building self-esteem and strengthening local cultural identity.

Take a peek at the history of Laredo and the state of Texas at the Republic of the Rio Grande Museum. Once the home of Bartolomé García, prominent rancher and mayor of Laredo, this restored house displays the style of an 1830s home and contains several artifacts from the time period.
