In 1941, with hard work, a collection of family recipes, and $150, Pedro and Cruz Cortez started their family of restaurants with a three-table cafe. San Antonio's Market Square culture resembles Pedro's home in Mexico. He was inspired to name his restaurant "Mi Tierra," which means "the land where I come from."
