Revel and relish in the delightfully entertaining performances found at the Waco Civic Theatre whose roots date back to the 1920s when the work of many enlightened citizens combined to form the historic Waco Little Theatre. Witness the fruits of the collaboration of Baylor's Drama Department and renowned architects to build and showcase the Theatre as it stands today. The theatre produces 6 Main Stage Productions, ranging from classic dramas to new Broadway musicals to hilarious comedies. Aspiring local artists, theatre professionals, educators, and youth all work in partnership to produce children’s theatre workshops, productions and outreach programs.

There's history that reaches back, and then there's history that reaches way back. That's what you'll find at the Waco Mammoth Site. This is where you can step back in time 68,000 years ago when mammoths and saber-toothed cats roamed the land that would eventually become Texas. Paleontologists came to discover this mammoth heard which was discovered in 1978 and wasn't opened for public viewing until 2009. These Pleistocene mammoths represent the first and only discovery of a nursery herd of these creatures, so don't miss this dramatic and unforgettable peek into some real stone age stories. The Art Center Waco overlooks the Brazos River and is housed in a classic-styled Mediterranean residence. Inside, there is a stunning collection of sculpture, pottery, paintings and woodcarvings. The work is mainly the product of young, up-and-coming talent and new exhibits are added on a regular basis. The center also offers art classes for both children and adults. Also, there is a sculpture garden outside that features 35 works that not only prove to be an alluring invitation to visitors, they also create a compelling scene that you'll find hard to forget. Since 1976, locals and visitors alike have enjoyed the Westfest Polka Festival, held in West, Texas, a short 15 mile drive from Waco. Visitors pay homage to the German culture in Texas with a big variety of food booths, kids' activities, a parade, baking contests, arts and crafts, a tractor pull and even a polka mass! Of course, there is also plenty of polka music and dance contests to enter and enjoy. The event is traditionally held over the Labor Day weekend, so plan to make your way out West for an unforgettable time at the Westfest Polka Festival.
