Originally built between 1851 and 1859, this impressive structure was the home of affluent planter Richard Decauter Lee. The Victorian-styled home never fails to mesmerize the many visitors who quietly tour the various rooms which are furnished with impressively detailed, authentic furniture and accessories. Also, there are special events and evening programs that are planned year round.

History and astronomy come together in a dazzling way at the Chesapeake Planetarium. From an historic standpoint, the facility is significant because it is the first planetarium built by a public school system in the state of Virginia.
