From an historic standpoint, the facility is significant because it is the first planetarium built by a public school system in the state of Virginia. But this attraction also offers visitors a chance to gaze into the night sky and be amazed at the intricate patterns and formations that make up the constellations everyone has heard about. The staff is highly knowledgeable and can answer any questions you may have. Also, there are various lectures and special presentations on the schedule. Despite the fact that the Battleship Wisconsin is located in Norfolk, die-hard history buffs don't mind the drive at all. This impressive battleship museum is one of the largest and the last ever built by the United States Navy. When you visit, you can take a dramatic walk on its deck on a self-guided tour and see other parts of the ship. A gift shop as well as several excellent photo opportunities are available at this popular historic attraction.
