York River State Park offers beautiful scenery as well as several recreation trails that offer a chance to get a unique view of the park's lush surroundings. You can also enjoy such activities as hiking, biking, and hunting. Plus, you can enjoy a scenic walk along the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail which stretches for a mile along the edge of Dismal Swamp. The magnitude and majesty of the United States Navy is clearly the focal point of Naval Station Norfolk. This is the largest naval base in the world and features the nuclear powered USS Theodore as well as more than 100 ships from the Mediterranean and Atlantic fleets.
