Strolling hand in hand while taking in one memorable piece of art after another is a great way to spend quality time with your honey, and the best place to enjoy some fine displays of great artistic expressions is the Harnett Museum of Art. The museum opened in 1968, and since then the staff has prided itself on consistently acquiring some of the world's most recognized works by some of the world's best known artists. To balance that goal, the museum also presents work from students that proves to be just as thought provoking.

Breathe in the regal beauty and majestic grandeur of Richmond when you take a tour of the Capitol Square and Virginia State Capitol. The dramatic Civil War history and other episodes seem a little less heated when you experience the classic beauty of the State Capitol. The tour also includes a chance to see the surrounding grounds. Your guide will draw connections between the various points of interest within the Capitol building, some notable artifacts, and the surrounding sites. Don't forget your camera, as there are several monuments on the grounds that will make for some excellent photos.

The State Fair of Virginia seems to encapsulate all that's great about the state. Come and see competitions, horticulture and crop exhibitions, livestock shows, horse shows, as well as an unbelievable selection of arts and crafts and food, too! Plus, the world-famous carousel will be there, so don't even think about leaving before taking a colorful, musical spin. The festival is held in late September into early October.

The Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is one of Richmond's most beautiful attractions. This natural haven of flowers and plants is highlighted by picturesque paths and vistas that invite you to take a leisurely, relaxing walk. Spread out over 24 luxurious acres, the Ginter Botanical Garden features various landscape designs, seasonal displays and gardening techniques. Also on site, you'll find a truly breathtaking example of a Victorian garden as well as Bloemendaal, an 1888 Victorian manor that has been meticulously maintained to retain its regal, commanding appearance. History and pageantry balance perfectly at this truly unforgettable garden.
