Richmond's 2nd Street Festival is held every October. Like many of the historical places and events that are associated with the city, this festival links the historical past to the prosperous present in the city's notable African American district where the event is held. The Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is one of Richmond's most beautiful attractions. This natural haven of flowers and plants is highlighted by picturesque paths and vistas that invite you to take a leisurely, relaxing walk. Spread out over 24 luxurious acres, the Ginter Botanical Garden features various landscape designs, seasonal displays and gardening techniques. Also on site, you'll find a truly breathtaking example of a Victorian garden as well as Bloemendaal, an 1888 Victorian manor that has been meticulously maintained to retain its regal, commanding appearance. History and pageantry balance perfectly at this truly unforgettable garden.

The Children's Museum of Richmond has been touted as one of the East Coast's most exciting, innovative museums where the words "hands off" don't apply. The kids are encouraged to touch everything, and that invitation to interact with the attractions and exhibits they see proves to be just the thing to spark their curiosity and creativity. The kids can chase butterflies in Shadow Play, create artwork in the art room and then take their creations home with them, as well as learn the value of community and sharing as they interact with their fellow adventurers.
