Richmond's 2nd Street Festival is held every October. Like many of the historical places and events that are associated with the city, this festival links the historical past to the prosperous present in the city's notable African American district where the event is held. Enjoy great soul food, live jazz and a festival that echoes back to the celebrations held back in the 20s, 30s, and 40s. It's an excellent party you won't want to miss.

Buddy's is actually the perfect name for this bar, as you will more than likely be "buddies" with several of the people here because of both the venue's popularity and its unusually small size. Actually, this popular under-30s crowd watering hole is five times longer than it is wide, so you will press the flesh quite a bit, even if you are just heading to the bar. Buddy's serves a light menu early in the evening, but if you wait until later to try and get in, you might be facing at least a 15-minute wait outside. Then again, you might make a new "buddy" before you even enter the bar!

Your kids will wander into Kidsville at Paramount's Kings Dominion and may never want to leave! The Kidsville section of this amusement park has drawn in lots of pint-sized visitors; this area of the park is designed as a town that's kid-size and full of fun. The Kidsville attraction is just one of the many at Paramount. On your journey through the park, you'll most definitely want to check out the different rollercoasters and rides that line the way. Choose from the Blast Coaster, the Volcano or two suspended roller coasters to see who's the biggest risk-taker in your family!

Is your child curious about the world and wants to know how things work? Then he or she will totally enjoy a trip to the Science Museum of Virginia. Several exhibits and attractions are interactive, and inquisitive minds will love learning about electricity, computers, astronomy and much more. Plus, the whole family will feel like space travelers while watching the show at the Ethyl Universe Planetarium and Space Theater. Don't be surprised if the kids want to keep coming back to this fun and educational venue as they continue their quest for learning how everything works.
