The Virginia Holocaust Museum does an impressive job of presenting one of the most harrowing events in our history. It dramatically documents the horror of the many Jews who lost their lives in the Holocaust. The facility tells the story from several vantage points, focusing on how the Holocaust reshaped the lives of many Jews. The museum also highlights the stories of Virginia survivors and that makes up what is perhaps the venue's most emotional exhibit.

When you tour the Berkeley Plantation, you'll be among a couple of history's most significant connections. One is that the plantation house is said to be the site of the Thanksgiving celebration of 1619, although debate still exists over the exact location of the original event. The gorgeous Georgian manor is also the birthplace of Benjamin Harrison, who was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Also, our ninth President, William Henry Harrison, was born here as well. Enjoy lush gardens and restored grounds as you stroll after the tour to enjoy the scenery that extends all the way to the James River.

Maymont began as the 100-acre Victorian estate of Major James H. and Sallie May Dooley. The couple's mansion was complete in 1893 and over the next three decades they created lush garden scenery, picturesque landscapes and beautifully crafted outbuildings. Today, visitors can not only enjoy all of that natural allure, but there are such amenities as the Maymont House Museum, historic gardens, a carriage collection, nature center, wildlife exhibits and a children's farm to enjoy, as well. Still, there are several choice spots to enjoy an outdoor picnic on this inviting piece of historic land.

Your kids will wander into Kidsville at Paramount's Kings Dominion and may never want to leave! The Kidsville section of this amusement park has drawn in lots of pint-sized visitors; this area of the park is designed as a town that's kid-size and full of fun. The Kidsville attraction is just one of the many at Paramount. On your journey through the park, you'll most definitely want to check out the different rollercoasters and rides that line the way. Choose from the Blast Coaster, the Volcano or two suspended roller coasters to see who's the biggest risk-taker in your family!
