Get a totally different perspective of some of Virginia's most notable natives when you experience the Virginia Legends Walk. This unique walkway commemorates the work of some of the most influential Virginians like Ella Fitzgerald, Patsy Cline, Edgar Allan Poe, Douglas MacArthur, Robert E. Lee, and Arthur Ashe, just to name a few. It was inaugurated in 1999 and new names are regularly added to this fitting and entertaining tribute.
The Contemporary Art Center of Virginia is a popular destination for both artists and art lovers of all ages. Not only is it a place where art is celebrated and highlighted with due respect, but it is also a wellspring of inspiration and encourages creativity in many ways. Of course, the many famous paintings and other pieces that are housed here are quite noteworthy, but the museum also offers classes, lectures and seminars that are all designed to foster a deeper appreciation for art and all that it offers.
Even though the sun has gone down, that doesn't mean that the heat has let up one bit when you make plans to spend your evening at Peabody's. This high energy dance club features the largest dance floor in Virginia and touts itself as the hottest place to get your groove on. You can literally party with thousands as this nightlife venue can accommodate quite a crowd. The drinks are served by expert barkeeps, the atmosphere is fun, energetic and yet inviting, and there is even an area to kick back and check out what's on one of the many big screen televisions. And of course, the crowd is filled with some of the most visually appealing people in town!
If you're searching for something truly unique, then make your way to the Virginia Beach Spring Craft Market. This festival, held every March, welcomes the warmer season with an incredible selection of items that include fine arts, hand crafted jewelry, wood, glass, photography, candles, woven baskets, clothing, toys, folk art and specialty food, among many other items. The event happens at the Virginia Beach Convention Center from Friday through Sunday and its efforts benefit the work of the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia.
