When you venture out to the Dishman Hills Natural Area, not only are you destined to see one of Spokane's most beautiful natural scenes, you will be visiting one of its most historic. Named after A.T. Dishman who extracted tons of granite from the site to help rebuild Spokane after the Great Fire of 1889, the area offers several desirable activities for nature lovers. There is a two and a half-mile hike that traverses Eastwood Pond which is available seasonally from March to November. In addition, there are several excellent spots for picnics, family fun and running around. Or, if you prefer, you can just sit and take in the amazing outdoor beauty.

Spokane has many inviting features. If you're taking the Walking Tour of Downtown, one of the most welcome features of the city is the fact that there are few steep inclines, which will make your walk through Spokane's downtown area all the more enjoyable. See plenty of interesting architecture, historic buildings that include the Met Theater, City Hall and the carousel at Riverfront Park, as well as the scenery of the park itself. Begin your tour by starting at the Visitor Information Center at 201 W Main Street where you can get a self-guided walking tour map. Get some comfortable shoes on and make sure your camera is loaded as you head out on this excellent way to get better acquainted with downtown Spokane.

Plan a romantic date at the Knitting Factory, a venue that is widely regarded as the Northwest's premiere outlet for live music. Not only will you get to hear some of the best local, regional and even national acts, you'll also enjoy some of the extra amenities that this hip hangout offers. There's a great restaurant and fun nightclub all owned by the same management, so you get to save a little travel time by getting a great meal, hearing some live music, and dancing the night away at one of downtown Spokane's favorite places.

Family fun, feline style is what you'll find at Cat Tales Zoological Park. This unique zoo attraction spotlights various endangered members of the cat family. The kids will surely enjoy getting a closer-than-usual look at some of the facility's famous residents. These include tigers, pumas, lions, and lynx. If you want to learn more, you can opt to take one of the zoo's highly informative and entertaining tours. And don't forget to bring your camera to capture as many pics of these really cool cats.
