Engage in hands-on learning about science, nature and sustainable living at the Urban Ecology Center. The center has two outdoor "laboratories," located in two urban parks, which feature 15 acres of woodland, a lagoon and riparian habitat on the east bank of the Milwaukee River. The parks also house a habitat-themed playground, as well as seasonal swimming, boating and skating.

Be sure to watch a performance by the Milwaukee Repertory Theater & Professional Theater Company, an eleven member Resident Acting Company dedicated to presenting new playwrights and reviving classics. The Rep's current complex is a cleverly converted power generation plant that can seat well over a thousand people within its three theaters, and hosts an 11-play entertainment season annually.

Beer lovers will want to stop by this local microbrewery for one of their tours. At Lakefront Brewery, you'll learn about the beer-making process and sample four tap beers for free with admission. Leave your tour with a commemorative Souvenir Pint Glass. Since 1987, Lakefront has specialized in handmade brews including Riverwest Stein, Eastside Dark, Klisch Pilsner and Organic Extra Special Bitters.

Wrap up your summer with the Indian Summer Festival in September. This festival is the largest Native American celebration of its kind in the country, and features nationally known American Indian performers and entertainers, as well as art and food. Learn about and celebrate America's most ancient culture!
