The Casper Marathon is held every June and it stands as a very dramatic reminder of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Participants are invited to "run with the herd" in an event that is half marathon, half marathon relay. The marathon is staged by the Casper Windy City Striders, the city's running club. Casper's National Historic Trails Interpretive Center is one of the area's most popular attractions for several good reasons. This venue offers a chance to learn about the role that various trails played in the development of Wyoming and the western part of the country. In addition to seeing visually arresting exhibits about the history of these trails, visitors can actually experience the trails themselves by follow the BLM signs outside the center. The National Historic Trails Center gives you the unique opportunity to walk through the same trails that have been used since the late 19th century.

Nature lovers usually can't sit still for long, and that's why the Platte River Parkway Trail is so appealing for many people who live in Casper. This trail system runs approximately ten miles in length, east to west through the Casper community, connecting many parks and recreation areas. The trail is popular with walkers, runners and folks out to enjoy a day of outdoor recreational activities on land or on the river. There's also plenty of wildlife to view from either the trail or the lakeside.
