See the history of the West through the eyes of the Nelson Museum of the West, a museum that has grown over the years thanks to the dedication of its founder, Robert Nelson. This growing museum’s collection consists of more than 20 temporary and permanent exhibits, ranging from Western art to Native American artifacts.
Get up close and personal with the great North American bison at the Terry Bison Ranch, just seven miles south of Cheyenne. Explore the ranch resort attractions and its grassland grazers on either the custom-built train or by horseback riding along the trails. You can also enjoy fishing at the rainbow trout-stocked pond, let the children play at the Kid Corral and dine at the excellent Senator’s Steakhouse.
Inside the Medicine Bow - Routt National Forest, you’ll find Vedauwoo. This outdoor site contains rocky outcropping of boulders, slabs and cliffs perfect for hiking and rock climbing. The weathered Sherman granite in the Land of the Earthborn Spirit makes for some of the best wide crack climbing (offwidths) in the world. Feel free to bring a tent as well, since the area also contains a convenient campground.
Parents skate free with children’s admission at Roller City. Since 1972, this skating rink has attracted residents and visitors of Cheyenne with its fun events. Join in a public skating session, learn to skate in private classes or watch the roller derby group show off their skills. All this set to the best music from the 70s, 80s, 90s and today!
