One of the largest outdoor rodeos and western celebrations in the world, Cheyenne Frontier Days truly demonstrates why Cheyenne earned the nickname Frontier City. Join in this popular 10-day long attraction, which draws in hundreds of thousands of visitors to this otherwise low-key city. This enormous fair features popular music performances, a midway, carnival rides, an Indian village, wild west shows and “The Daddy of ‘em All” rodeo.
See real dinosaur skeletons from the University’s archeological dig site at the Geological Museum at University of Wyoming. An amazing 75-foot Apatosaurus (Brontosaurus) skeleton dominates the museum hall, and the remaining space is filled with natural history discoveries like an Allosaurus fossil, a copper-plated T-Rex, hundreds of rock and mineral samples and intricate murals.
Come watch the newly formed Cheyenne Stampede showcase their sports skills on the ice at the Ice and Events Center. Part of the Western States Hockey League, this Cheyenne-based hockey team is Wyoming’s newest Jr. A team and has recruited players from all over the state to take on (and take down) opponents from New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, California and Arizona.
