The trail features close proximity to downtown and the Birch Hill Recreation Area is essentially an urban trail system. There is much to see along this set of trails that is especially popular with cross country skiers.

Nature lovers love communing with nature at every opportunity. One such opportunity is an outdoor excursion on the Pinnell Mountain National Recreation Trail. This trail offers alpine-style backpacking over the course of its 27.3 miles. Along the way, you can enjoy truly stunning views of the mountains and other scenery that includes several summer wildflowers, alpine azaleas, forget me nots, and lots more.

The season of winter isn't restricted to the months of the year, as visitors are always in for a cool experience when they visit the Fairbanks Ice Museum. Marvel at the life-sized ice sculptures carved by local artists. These incredible, finely-detailed works are all displayed at the historic Lacey Street Theater. Every Saturday night all year round, the University of Alaska Good Time Swing Dance Club hosts a dance at the Silver Spur nightclub. The music begins at 6 and goes non-stop until 8:30.
