Modeled after the New York State Theater, the Carpenter Performing Arts Center serves as a venue in LA for films, forums, musical and theater performances, and other entertainment events. Located at California State University, the Center serves as a gateway between the university and greater LA community.
The Armand Hammer Museum of Art and Culture Center, or the Hammer Museum as it is more commonly referred to, is an art museum specializing in key single-artist and thematic exhibitions of historic or contemporary work. Originally created to house Armand Hammer's personal art collection, the museum is now operated by UCLA's School of Arts and Architecture and has expanded to include the Billy Wilder Theater.
Aside from an extensive collection of rare books, manuscripts and art, the Huntington Library Art Collections and Botanical Gardens also contain 120 acres of landscaped gardens. Of the dozen principal gardens open to the public, the Children's Garden is most popular for the younger visitors. Children can learn about plants and different elements of nature through fun, hands-on activities.
See the Los Angeles Dodgers play a home game at Dodger Stadium. Part of Major League Baseball's National League West Division, this sports team knocks the game out of the park. The Dodgers have played in LA since 1958 (even though the team was establish in Brooklyn in 1883), and share a fierce rivalry with the San Francisco Giants.
