Watch a movie in the famous Chinese Theatre, where movie stars have gathered for Hollywood premiers since the 1920s. This beautiful theater and cultural attraction was designed to resemble a miniature Chinese palace, to make moviegoers feel like royalty.

Modeled after the New York State Theater, the Carpenter Performing Arts Center serves as a venue in LA for films, forums, musical and theater performances, and other entertainment events. Located at California State University, the Center serves as a gateway between the university and greater LA community.

What started out as a group of filmmakers who were denied entrance to the Sundance Film Festival and decided not to take no for an answer is today’s Slamdance Film Festival.
