Los Angeles contains a multitude of art galleries and museums, but the Getty Center is the most popular. This art center showcases a variety of classic and modern art and photography in its permanent collection, as well as regional, national and international traveling exhibitions. The architecture of the building and the lovely view combine to create an art lover's dream.

If you are willing to travel a bit out of the main LA area, be sure to add the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden to your destinations list. This gorgeous, 127-acre garden and outdoor oasis is nestled into the low-key San Gabriel town, near the mountains. The Arboretum houses luscious plant collections from all over the world, including many rare and endangered species.

Originally built as a single-screen movie theater in 1936, the El Rey Theatre has undergone several transformations over the decades, from a theater to a dance club to its current incarnation as a live music venue. "The King" presents favorite bands and performers in a high-energy entertainment atmosphere.

Check out one of the most successful teams in the history of the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers formed in 1947 and quickly rose among the ranks. The second most valuable NBA franchise, the Lakers hold the record for the longest winning streak as well as 17 championships. Wear your purple, gold and white jerseys out to the Staples Center to show your support for this all-star sports team.
