Since opening in 2001, Dolby Theatre has served as a venue for televised theater performances. When not hosting the annual Academy Awards Ceremonies or American Idol, the theater presents a variety of public cultural events and entertainment. With over 100,000 pieces dating from all points in history, LACMA's seven-building complex is the largest encyclopedic museum west of Chicago and has reached international notoriety. Besides both permanent collections and traveling exhibits, the museum also hosts film and concert series.
