The second largest park in Los Angeles, as well as the city's oldest, Elysian Park covers 600 acres of land. Scattered across this park, you will find a number of idyllic picnic spots, several sculptures and memorial markers, trails and a community garden. Come out here to spend some time outdoors and get some fresh air without leaving the city.
Enjoy some free jazz at the Central Avenue Jazz Festival held annually on Central Avenue, the home of LA jazz in the 1930s and 40s. Enjoy food, art, community outreach programs and, of course, some of the best music from favorite local and national jazz artists, as well as high school bands.
Whether you are religious or not, you can find some tranquility at the Peace Awareness Labyrinth & Gardens. People from all walks of life can come walk the hand-carved stone outdoor labyrinth to help clear the mind and though process. Or you can escape the chaos of urban life at one of the peaceful meditation gardens.
Modeled after the New York State Theater, the Carpenter Performing Arts Center serves as a venue in LA for films, forums, musical and theater performances, and other entertainment events. Located at California State University, the Center serves as a gateway between the university and greater LA community.
