You'll feel miles from civilization at Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, located at the base of the Sierra foothills. The 18,000-acre state park is home to 75 miles of shoreline around Lake Natoma. Camp out, have a picnic in the great outdoors, hike or bike through the hills, or spend a day on the water fishing, boating, or sailing.
Hear the sound of music at the California Musical Theatre, Northern California's premiere producer and presenter of musical theater, and the largest nonprofit musical theater in California. For over 50 years, audiences have enjoyed the entertainment of musicals like The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, and Marry Poppins during the summer Music Circus season and the Broadway Series.
Hours of pint-size fun can be found at Sacramento's Funderland Amusement Park, geared for children ages 2-12. Child size rides and attractions include The Dagon Roller Coaster, Spinning Teacup Ride, Oscar the Fish, the Red Baron Plane Ride, and the Wild Stagecoach Ride. Little appetites get big slice of pizza at Funderland's Café.
Discover the wounded and wild at heart at Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to rescued and rejected animals, including bobcats, tigers, monkeys, skunks, raccoons, bears, foxes, miniature donkeys, coyotes, wolves and owls. Spend 45 minutes in a non-zoo environment and leave with a wild respect for wildlife.
