The Balboa Park Municipal Golf Club offers what you might call a "vintage" golfing experience and has been a fixture in San Diego for a number of years.

While the course is adequately maintained, the biggest challenge is not a tricky fairway or a brushy bunker, but rather it is the greens that are all fairly small. Despite that fact, this is another course that offers a great value for the money and is not only a local favorite, but novices find that they can develop their game on this comfortable stretch of holes.

The Grand Del Mar Golf Club features an immaculate course and the staff gets kudos for top-notch service as well as their consistency in keeping the playing areas in excellent condition.

This course is just down the beach from Hotel Del Coronado, so if you're in town for pleasure, this is the course to check out. Or, if you're in town for business, this is the course to select as the Grand Del Mar specifically caters to corporate outings on a regular basis.

The Maderas Golf Club is as scenic as it is challenging. The greens, bunkers, fairways and roughs are all well-maintained and the staff takes pride in being helpful and always professional.

That commitment to excellence is just one of the great features of Maderas. The other, is the incredible scenery you will enjoy while playing, especially at dawn or at dusk. And, in addition to enjoying the dawn's light for your early game, the rates are usually cheaper for tee times at the beginning of the day. Overall, it's an expansive, open course with great scenery and moderately priced for early morning rounds.
