Things To Do in Denver, CO

MCA Denver MCA Denver

The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver was established in 1996, initially housed in a renovated fish market. However, it moved to its current spacious facility on Delgany Street in 2007. The building was designed to promote creative experimentation with art and ideas by minimizing the boundaries between the city outside and the galleries inside. The exhibit spaces feature hidden skylights that allow natural light, while the museum's windows provide a glimpse of Denver's streetscape. Visitors to the museum can explore a diverse range of regional, national, and international art exhibitions that rotate in and out of the museum. These exhibitions usually stay for two to four months, as no permanent collection exists. The museum also hosts numerous events throughout the year, including a summer rooftop concert series on Thursday evenings. Visitors can grab a bite to eat or enjoy a glass of wine at the museum's cafe and bar and shop for unique items from around the world in the compact museum shop.

Four Mile Historic Park Four Mile Historic Park

Visiting Four Mile Historic Park is a great way to experience the pioneer spirit of Denver's early settlers and see the oldest building in the city, the Four Mile House. This historic structure was built in 1859 and used to be a stage shop, inn, and tavern for travelers. In addition to its rich history, the Park offers various programs allowing Denver residents and visitors to learn more about the Mile High City's heritage. At Four Mile Historic Park, you can step back in time and experience Denver's Western heritage through historically accurate replicas and a working farm with horses, goats, chickens, and pigs. The Park's grounds are also home to the Four Mile House Museum, the oldest standing structure in Denver. Today, the Park is open to the public and offers a range of education programs, tours of the historic Four Mile House, and signature events, making it an excellent destination for all visitors.
