United States Capitol

Aside from the White House, the United States Capitol building is the most visited building in Washington. Tours are available at the kiosk on the southwest side of the Capitol, and are free of charge, on a first-come, first-served basis. Veterans Day Ceremony

The Veterans Day Ceremony held every November draws veterans in record numbers to solemnly commemorate their fallen comrades during this highly patriotic ceremony. The President is often in attendance as well as several other political and military leaders. The ceremony is held in the amphitheater built around the Tomb of the Unknowns. Among the highly emotional parts of the ceremony are musical tributes, keynote speeches and the laying of wreaths.
