Considering how much history there is in Washington and its surrounding areas, taking a walking tour will get you even closer to these venues and help you gain an even deeper insight to the lives of the people that shaped history. The Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center schedules various informative and detailed guided walking tours of historic Fairfax. Some of the highlights along the way include a handful of the city's oldest structures like the Gunnell House that dates back to 1830, the Old Fairfax Jail that originated back in 1891 and the Moore House that was originally constructed in 1840.

Habana Village is layers of fun...literally! This is an unbelievable four-story nightlife destination. Find your place on the floor to dance the salsa, merengue, tango or samba to add more than just a little spice to your evening. If you aren't quite sure of the steps, there are lessons available to help you find your groove. There isn't much time to be off your feet, but if you do need a bit of a breather, there are excellent lounges on the third and fourth floors that will revitalize your spirit. The specialty drink at Habana Village is the mojito, a tasty mix of rum, sugar and crushed mint leaves that will help you get dancing again, too.

Our 16th President is remembered at one of the city's most popular attractions, the Lincoln Memorial. This iconic landmark overlooks the Reflecting Pool that creates a stunning photo opportunity as both the Washington Monument and the Capitol Building are in the vicinity as well. Make sure to have plenty of time when you visit, as you will want to walk along this magnificent pool and climb up the marble staircase that leads to the 19-foot-high statue of Abraham Lincoln.

The Potomac River offers several fine opportunities for water sports and great aquatic fun. Enjoy a day of sailing and get a look at DC from a truly amazing vantage point. There are several marinas on the Southwest Waterfront, Old Town Alexandria, and Arlington that are great starting points for your time on the water. Lessons are available at the Washington Sailing Marina which is located just south of the Reagan National Airport.
