Celebrate the arts at one of the nation's premier outdoor art events, the Coconut Grove Arts Festival. This event showcases art in various medias, and offers festival-goers the opportunity to purchase art and meet the artists with work featured. Fine cuisine and live entertainment are also in attendance at the festival.
The James L. Knight Center is another of Miami's multipurpose entertainment and convention venues. Along with events like graduations and business meetings, the convention center hosts theatrical productions and concerts. Luciano Pavarotti was the first to perform at the venue, followed by a variety of artists that include Metallica, Alicia Keys, Shakira, and David Bowie, among many others.
Outdoor activities have made a cozy home at Tropical Park. Accompanying miles of paved trails for walking, running and biking, are amenities like tennis, racquetball and basketball courts, soccer, football and softball fields, a dog park, and four lakes. The lakes are perfect spots for boating and fishing. There's something for everyone at this park.
Visit the Kampong National Tropical Botanical Garden to see a variety of tropical plants from all around the world. The outdoor garden is full of plant life from Southeast Asia, Central and South America, and the Caribbean, and includes a number of fruit and flowering trees. A few plants you may see are the cultivars of candle fruit, peanut butter fruit, egg fruit, cocoplums, and over 50 varieties of mango.
