For fresh air, wide-open green space, and some of the most gorgeous trees in the city, head to Candler Park. Along with a large area of open, green space, the park boasts an outdoor playground, pavilion areas, a pool, walking paths, and lots more. Candler Park also hosts community events like CP Movie Nights every month, and a Fall Festival. Fans of running may want to look into joining the Candler Park Running Club to meet with other enthusiasts of the sport.
Take a tour of one of Atlanta's historic homes at The Wren's Nest house Museum. The Queen Anne Victorian house is a perfect example of upper middle class living in the 20th century, and was home to Joel Chandler Harris from 1881 to 1908. The National Historic Landmark was named 120 years ago when wrens made a nest in the mailbox - and that is just one of the stories surrounding the legacy of this Atlanta landmark.
Keep your eye on the schedule at Lakewood Amphitheatre at Lakewood. This venue can accommodate up to 19,000 people and consistently brings some of the hottest names in entertainment to its stage. Past performances have included bands like Kings of Leon, Dave Matthews Band, Coldplay, John Mayer, Depeche Mode, and Mary J. Blige.
