Check out one of nature's odd attractions at Panola Mountain State Park. The park was created in an effort to preserve a 100-acre granite monadnock, or mountain. In all, this state park occupies 1,635 acres and is home to a visitor center, a playground, two fishing lakes, an archery range, and plenty of opportunities for hiking and biking in the great outdoors.
Take the kids to the Center for Puppetry Arts for a closer look at one of the main forms of child entertainment. Check out the center's museum to see how puppets are made, and get a look at some of famous puppeteer Jim Henson's work while learning about his legacy in the puppet world. After exploring the museum's attractions, watch a puppet production of stories like The Ugly Duckling, The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow, and Peter Pan.
Tour on the Atlanta History Center Tour, and learn about the city from the people who know it best. On your exploration of the 33-acre center, you'll see photographs and artifacts that detail time periods of Atlanta's past. Other features include various gardens, a research library, two historic homes, and the Margaret Mitchell House & Museum.
