Bring your appetite and get ready to feast at the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival. The festival showcases Southern cuisine prepared by area experts - pit masters, chefs, and local growers who are essentially masters of their craft. You won't go thirsty at this event either; there are plenty of fine wines, beers and other beverages to wash your food down with and quench your thirst.
Take in the eerie beauty of Georgia's oldest burial grounds, the Oakland Cemetery. The cemetery was founded in 1850 and there are an estimated 70,000 people laid to rest in its 48-acre expanse. Sections of the cemetery include the New Jewish section, the Black section, the Confederate section, and the cemetery's Original Six Acres; each section represents a different time in history. Some of Atlanta's most important and influential figures are interred here.
Spend a day enjoying outdoor and indoor recreation at the Bessie Branham Park. This park has a recreation center that houses indoor basketball courts, men's and women's locker rooms, a fitness room, library, arts and crafts center, a community room, and more. If you prefer to get some fresh air, hang out at the playground or Urban Tree House outside. There is also a large green area at Branham Park where you can stage a football or baseball game.
Sometimes the simplest dates can be the most romantic. Enjoy an intimate conversation over a cup of coffee at Cafe Intermezzo. This isn't your average coffee shop though; Cafe Intermezzo has a breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu, serves a wide range of coffees, beers, wine and other beverages, and has an impressive list of desserts.
