Explore the history of the city at the Atlanta History Center. The museum features rotating and traveling exhibits, and houses six permanent exhibits that showcase relevant points in Atlanta history. Events and time periods spotlighted include the city's expansion from a rural area to a metropolis, the Civil Rights Movement in the city, and the city during the Civil War. The Atlanta History Center boasts one of the largest collections of Civil War artifacts in the world. This museum and attraction also has historic homes and gardens on its grounds, and has been teaching the public about Atlanta's history since 1926.

Fans of film, mark your calendars for the Atlanta Film Festival. The annual international film festival presents a wide range of independent films, from a variety of genres. Hustle & Flow and 500 Days of Summer are just a couple of movies that have been featured at the festival. Be sure to bring your autograph book - you'll never know when you're going to run into a celebrity. Josh Brolin, Margaret Cho, Eddie Vedder, and Jeff Foxworthy are some of the stars that have attended the Atlanta Film Festival.

For fresh air, wide-open green space, and some of the most gorgeous trees in the city, head to Candler Park. Along with a large area of open, green space, the park boasts an outdoor playground, pavilion areas, a pool, walking paths, and lots more. Candler Park also hosts community events like CP Movie Nights every month, and a Fall Festival. Fans of running may want to look into joining the Candler Park Running Club to meet with other enthusiasts of the sport.
