Take time to pay tribute to one of the main leaders of the Civil Rights Movement by visiting the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site. The 35-acre site features a number of buildings and memorial sites, including Dr. King's childhood home, the original Ebenezer Baptist Church, Fire Station No. 6, the "I Have a Dream" International World Peace Rose Garden, the "International Civil Rights Walk of Fame," and a memorial to Mohandas K. Gandhi. While you're visiting the site, be sure to walk through the visitor center for a detailed chronology of the American Civil Rights Movement.
Whether you're a pool shark or an amateur, head to Mr. Cues Billiards II to enjoy a few rounds of pool. The pool hall houses 38 billiard tables, a snooker table, and a pro shop. While you're getting your game on, dine on some tasty food and drink your favorite libations from the full bar.
Check out one of nature's odd attractions at Panola Mountain State Park. The park was created in an effort to preserve a 100-acre granite monadnock, or mountain. In all, this state park occupies 1,635 acres and is home to a visitor center, a playground, two fishing lakes, an archery range, and plenty of opportunities for hiking and biking in the great outdoors.
