If you'd rather have your nose stuck in a book than do anything else, then the Boston Book Festival is an event just for you – but you'll have to put down what you're reading to get there. The festival features live book readings, lectures and open discussions with professional authors, and of course, books! Head to the Back Bay Fens and hang out next to a beautiful freshwater marsh. Along with the marsh, this link in the Emerald Necklace park system is home to ball fields, a wartime “Victory Garden” that was established in 1941, and the popular Kelleher Rose Garden, among other outdoor attractions. While you're exploring the park, be sure to pay respects at the World War II, Vietnam, and Korean War memorials that reside in the park.
Housing over 450,000 works of art, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston boasts one of the most extensive art collections in the country. The museum is one of the largest in America and features a wide variety of art, including French impressionist and post-impressionist works, 18th and 19th century American art, imperial Chinese art, the largest collection of Japanese art outside of Japan, and much more. A few of the renowned artists with works in the collection include Renoir, Monet, Van Gogh, and Degas.
Head into battle on the field at Boston Paintball. Recreational warfare at its finest takes place here on the indoor and outdoor fields. Professional or novice paintballers are welcome; there's also a pro shop on site so you can stock up on all your paintball needs.
