See the world through different eyes at the American Visionary Art Museum, America´s national art museum dedicated to self-taught art. This imaginative art museum sponsors themed exhibitions featuring the works of different local and national artists. All exhibits focus on a central theme, meant to bring awareness to certain social and cultural issues.

Visit the Fell´s Point neighborhood for one of the largest annual celebrations in Baltimore. The Fell´s Point Fun Festival, usually held during the first week of October, has been going on for over 45 years and draws in over 700,000 people. The outdoor street festival is a great opportunity to meet local vendors, find some great deals, enjoy beautiful art and listen to great music.

The Mount Vernon neighborhood in Baltimore, distinctly separate from the plantation in Virginia, is one of the city´s oldest neighborhoods and serves as the city´s cultural district. This National Landmark Historic District is named after the home of George Washington, and contains the original Washington Monument.

Take a break from the concrete jungle at the smaller, 6-acre Sherwood Gardens. Located in the Guilford neighborhood, this public garden began as an outdoor hobby of John W. Sherwood in the 1920s and originally consisted of a few of his tulips imported from the Netherlands. Now, Sherwood Gardens contains approximately 80,000 tulip bulbs and hundreds of other plants collected from the gardens of Colonial estates.
