Missouri has over 6,000 caves, but the Meramec Caverns are the largest commercial caverns in the state. According to legend, Jesse James used these caves as a hideout during the 1870s. Located only an hour away from the Gateway Arch, these caves are considered St. Louis's "Buried Treasure."
No state celebrates Mardi Gras harder than Missouri, and the St. Louis Mardi Gras is second only to New Orleans. The party begins on Twelfth Night in January and continues daily (and nightly) until the festivities culminate on Fat Tuesday.
How do you like to get around? The Museum of Transportation has any method you'd like, including a sizeable collection of antique cars, boats, planes, locomotives and railroad equipment.
