The Charlotte Checkers belong to the Midwestern Division of the Western Conference of the American Hockey League. The sports team is the AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League. Their home games are played at the Time Warner Cable Arena.

Car enthusiasts from all over the country will definitely want to park it at the Backing Up Classics Auto Museum.  While the venue is small, it makes excellent use of the space it does have by presenting some intriguing autos.  Some of the featured exhibits include cars as far back as the 1920s right through the auto boom of the 50s and 60s.  There is also a row dedicated exclusively to Mustangs.  Muscle cars, classics, and standards are all spotlighted in this fun, highly popular museum.

Still, against that backdrop, there were regal structures like this Federal style home that was built in 1815 and even then, it got the attention of the town's populace. When you enter the home, perhaps the fact that it has been so well preserved is its most striking feature. The original French wallpaper that dates back to its original construction still adorns the walls. A rare but interesting look at Southern domestic life is the overall theme of taking a tour of this structure that features attractive gardens and a tranquil pond. Tours are by appointment only and you must allow a two week's notice for your tour to commence.

The Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte's art district offers an always-impressive schedule of events that will appeal to fans of every kind of performance. From alternative rock shows to acoustic coffee-house type acts to fashion shows, local audiences know that if it's something edgy and theatrical, it can be found on the Neighborhood Theatre's well-worn stage.
