The Belk Theater is the busiest venue located within the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, as the Belk welcomes various types of artists and entertainment from all over the world to its stage. Their appearances put smiles on the faces of the numerous audience members who have come to expect the best from the Belk. The Charlotte Repertory Theatre and the North Carolina Dance Theatre occupy a space on the performance schedule every year. Other groups that also take the stage here include the Carolina Voices and various productions from the Carolinas Concert Association, all of which perform under the theater's wondrous 2,400 lights that are custom built right into its ceiling.

Fans of nature will gravitate to the outdoor beauty that lives at the UNC-Charlotte Botanical Gardens. This is where you will find several different varieties of plants and flowers that all make this place a truly captivating experience for the senses. You'll find several fine examples of rare species, as well. Plus, the two-story rain forest is something that no visitor to the garden should miss. This incredible slice of nature is located on the campus of the University of North Carolina, and if you are planning to take a group that has more than 10 people in it, you must schedule your visit.

The Historic Rosedale Plantation offers a peek at an era in history that was marked by several types of strife and unrest. Still, against that backdrop, there were regal structures like this Federal style home that was built in 1815 and even then, it got the attention of the town's populace. When you enter the home, perhaps the fact that it has been so well preserved is its most striking feature. The original French wallpaper that dates back to its original construction still adorns the walls. A rare but interesting look at Southern domestic life is the overall theme of taking a tour of this structure that features attractive gardens and a tranquil pond. Tours are by appointment only and you must allow a two week's notice for your tour to commence.
