The Bartley Ranch Regional Park Loop offers a unique hiking trail as it echoes Nevada's ranching heritage. Along the trail you'll find a replica of a one-room school house, as well as vintage farm equipment and exhibits that explain the function of these artifacts. It's a great suburban trail that comes alive thanks to these interesting pieces of the past that you'll see along the way.

The Reno Jazz Festival is sponsored by the University of Nevada, Reno and is scheduled every spring, usually in early April. The event prides itself in presenting the absolute best in jazz in the way of concerts, competitions and clinics. Aspiring musicians can learn about this incredibly complex and satisfying musical genre while seeing and hearing it performed by some of the most masterful players in the country.

The Nevada Historical Society is a museum that highlights some of Reno's key historical pieces like an architectural drawing of the State Building as well as other artifacts, documents and photographs that tell the story of how this part of the state was key to Nevada's economic and geographical development. Visiting the Nevada Historical Society is a nice break from the usual bustle, and you'll learn quite a bit about the ever-developing desert city that is Reno.
