Stroll through the gardens of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden to see over 10,000 species of plant life thriving in the city. The BBG sprawls over 52 acres near the Prospect Heights, Crown Heights and Park Slope neighborhoods. The garden is occupied by the Steinhardt Conservatory where the C.V. Starr Bonsai Museum is located. The conservatory features three climate-themed plant pavilions, a white cast-iron and glass aquatic plant house and an art gallery. The Ethel Barrymore Theatre was built for one of the greatest actresses of her generation, Ethel Barrymore. The theater was completed in 1928, hosting its first production on December 20th, The Kingdom of God starring Barrymore. The entertainment venue has hosted some of Hollywood's biggest stars in its productions of plays like The Women, A Streetcar Named Desire, A Raisin in the Sun and many more. Fred Astaire, Laurence Olivier, Gene Kelly, Marlon Brando, Deborah Kerr, Paul Newman, Sidney Poitier, Olympia Dukakis, Alec Baldwin and Carol Burnett have all performed here.
